Kamus of Kadizar is a private eye who survives by brawn, brains, magic (& sword) on the planet Ja-Lur. Ja-Lur, known as the Darkworld, is ruled by both science and sorcery.

These stories are written in the vein of classic pulp and noir fiction, and are a lot of fun!

The first novella-length short story in this collection was a nominee for the 1979 BFA (British Fantasy Awards) and lost to a Harlan Ellison story—which was still an honor to be considered against one of the finest science fiction authors known to us from the past 50 years.

Great

Space Noir on a planet where magic works and technology doesn't, written by the writer of Batman: The Animated Series, yes, the good one. Less "adult" and surreal than the sequel Kamus of Kadizhar: The Black Hole of Carcossa by Reverend John Shirley, which many may enjoy.
